FAQs
Straight answers for KC jobs
Do you only work in Kansas City?
Yes. Missouri and Kansas sides of the KC metro — Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Independence, Lee's Summit, Shawnee, Lenexa, Leawood, Blue Springs, Liberty, and nearby ZIPs. We do not book Springfield, Wichita, Columbia, or anywhere else.
Is this just plumbing and electrical?
No. v1 covers 17 named trades plus General contractor / Other: HVAC, roofing, handyman, painting, flooring, appliances, locksmith, pest, landscaping, cleaning, garage doors, concrete, fencing, windows & doors, and water damage.
What counts as an emergency?
Something that is actively getting worse or leaving a home unsafe: no heat in a freeze, standing water, lockout, garage door stuck open, sparking electrical. If it is life-threatening, call 911 first.
Will you take a payment online?
You pay Trades on Demand — never the contractor directly. Deposits go through Stripe Checkout on the Trademark Walls platform account. The webhook marks the receipt paid. TOD pays the partner later. SMS is still out of scope.
I rent in Midtown / a Johnson County apartment. Can I book?
Yes, if the job ZIP is in the metro. We still need a name and a phone the tech can use at the door. Landlord approval is on you.
Where is my customer profile?
Booking creates a private profile keyed to your email. Open /account with that email and phone, or use the magic link from confirmation. Addresses and receipts stay off the public contractor directory.
How do I check status?
After booking you get a public job ID (TOD-XXXXXX) and a private status link. Either works on the Track a job page.
Can I choose the contractor?
Yes, when an approved licensed partner offers that trade. You can open their public profile (rates, license, service area) or pick first available and let dispatch match you. Pending applicants are not shown.
How do licensed contractors join?
Apply at /contractors/signup (or /join). We need your license (MO or KS), insurance confirmation, KC metro coverage, and rates. Ops approves or rejects. There is still no contractor mobile app — signup and review only.
Do you have a contractor app?
Not yet. Partners apply on the website and are coordinated from the ops board. Homeowners book on the website / PWA.
Why was my ZIP rejected?
The form checks city and ZIP against the KC metro list. A Kansas City city name with a Denver ZIP (or the reverse) is declined with a clear message.
